Element Materials Technology Accounting Manager in Blue Ash, Ohio
Overview
Element has an opportunity for an Accounting Manager to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is ready to lead a small team while driving accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement across core accounting processes.
As a key member of the finance team, you will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, mentor staff, and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. This is a great opportunity to leverage both industry and public accounting experience within a global Testing, Inspection & Certification (TIC) organization.
This is a hybrid position based in Blue Ash, OH (3 days onsite / 2 remote)

Responsibilities
Lead and develop a small team of accountants, providing coaching, guidance, and performance management
Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process , ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
Manage complex accounting areas including payroll, fixed assets, and lease accounting (ASC 842)
Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled and variances are investigated and resolved
Provide detailed analysis and explanations of financial results to leadership
Partner cross-functionally with Finance, HR, and Operations to resolve accounting issues and improve processes
Coordinate and support external audits , including preparation of schedules, documentation, and responses to audit inquiries
Perform research on technical accounting matters and recommend appropriate treatment in accordance with GAAP
Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and standardization across accounting workflows
Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements
Skills / Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
CPA or CPA-track strongly preferred
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in public accounting (Big 4 or regional firm preferred)
Prior experience leading or mentoring a team (formal or informal)
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements
Experience with month-end close, audit support, and technical accounting research
Hands-on experience with payroll, fixed assets, and lease accounting
Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a hands-on environment

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in MS Office Suite

Demonstrated ability to apply public accounting discipline to documentation, controls, and financial review
