What You’ll Do
You’ll help maintain the overall cleanliness and safety of campus facilities by:
Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming floors, ramps, and stairways
Cleaning, sanitizing, and restocking restrooms
Gathering and disposing of trash and recycling
Cleaning and polishing fixtures
Replacing light bulbs as needed
Washing windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces
Mixing and preparing cleaning solutions
Dusting furniture, equipment, walls, and surfaces
Shampooing or steam-cleaning carpets
Stripping, sealing, and finishing floors
Cleaning or replacing blinds, drapes, and mats
Collecting and delivering soiled items
Clearing sidewalks and outdoor areas, including snow removal
Securing buildings by locking/unlocking doors and reporting security concerns
Identifying and reporting maintenance issues
Performing additional cleaning tasks as assigned
What We’re Looking For
Required Skills & Experience
6 months–1 year of custodial or janitorial experience
Ability to stand and walk for the entire shift
Ability to bend, squat, and reach difficult areas
Ability to lift and pull up to 50 lbs
Ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor
Strong customer service attitude and professionalism
Preferred Qualifications
Commercial or industrial cleaning experience
Experience leading or supervising custodial teams
Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as scrubbers

Work Environment
Custodians work across multiple campus zones, primarily in administrative buildings. You may also be assigned to residence halls, athletic facilities, and other areas as needed. The role is fast‑paced and physically active, with responsibilities that require mobility and attention to detail.
Must be comfortable handling everyday messes (nothing hazardous)
Shifts include second and third shift options , with overtime available based on seniority

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bloomington, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $15.00/hr.
