OVERVIEW

Cadrex is searching for an Manufacturing Engineering Intern to participate as a member of the production team in all aspects of engineering functions. Defines and creates processes, and assists in continuous improvement projects on the manufacturing floor. Supports Director of Operations staff in all areas and works with the staff to assist with a variety of tasks. This will be a 29 hour per week, 11-week internship.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Learns and adheres to engineering processes and procedures

  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements

  • Supports production staff with problem solving and discrepancy resolution.

  • Collaborates with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve fabrication or assembly problems

  • Assist team in identifying process improvements

  • Works directly with production and engineering to layout process required to manufacture parts and/or assemble

  • Provide technical support to plant supervisors

  • Provide engineering support assistance for quality issues as required

  • Uses Lean Manufacturing processes and techniques, such as work instruction, value stream mapping, SMED, Kaizen events

  • Create flow charts and spreadsheets in support of staff projects

  • Assists with the documentation of manufacturing related process and procedures

Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiple, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite with strong Microsoft Office Excel skills, highly preferred

  • Knowledge of project management software and manufacturing software a plus

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings

EDUCATION

  • Must be actively enrolled in a technical field of study such as manufacturing or industrial engineering

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
