Position Summary
The Ophthalmic Technician supports ophthalmologists and optometrists by performing clinical duties, diagnostic testing, and patient preparation. This role is essential in ensuring efficient patient flow and high-quality clinical care in a fast-paced eye care practice.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care & Clinical Support
Greet, escort, and prepare patients for examinations
Collect and document accurate medical and ocular histories
Perform preliminary testing including visual acuities, tonometry, lensometry, and pupillary assessments
Administer ophthalmic drops and perform dilation as directed
Assist physicians with minor in-office procedures
Documentation & Workflow
Document clinical findings in the EMR accurately and promptly
Maintain clean, organized exam rooms and fully functioning equipment
Support efficient patient flow throughout the clinic
Patient Education
Clearly explain testing procedures and expectations
Provide pre- and post-exam instructions
Answer general questions in a friendly, professional manner
QualificationsRequired:
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to multitask in a busy clinical setting
Previous medical, ophthalmic, or optometric experience preferred but not required
Preferred:
COA or COT certification
Prior ophthalmic technician experience
Familiarity with EMR systems
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
Manual dexterity needed for operating ophthalmic equipment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bloomfield, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $34.00/hr.
