Job Title: Layup Worker

Job Description

As a Layup Worker, you will be responsible for preparing and applying composite materials to molds, ensuring high-quality finishes and adherence to specifications. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a solid understanding of composite materials and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Clean the mold surface and apply a mold release agent to prevent composite adhesion.

  • Apply an initial gel coat for surface protection, if required.

  • Cut fiberglass, carbon fiber, or other fabric sheets to specified shapes and sizes.

  • Place fabric sheets on molds and apply resin using brushes, rollers, or other tools.

  • Ensure resin is thoroughly worked into fibers, removing air pockets and bubbles.

  • Add additional layers of fabric and resin as needed for reinforcement.

  • Allow composites to cure at room temperature or with applied heat.

  • Carefully remove finished parts from molds and trim excess material.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in assembly or clean room environments.

  • Proficiency with hand tools and working off of work instructions.

  • Mechanical aptitude with understanding of molds, vacuum bagging, epoxy, and composite layup processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in layup or composite work.

  • in the aerospace industry.

Work Environment

This role operates within a clean room environment requiring the use of personal protective equipment, such as hair nets, beard nets, and smocks. No medical or certifications are necessary. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bloomfield, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
