Job Details
Oversees the daily activities of the distribution center maintenance function to ensure rapid response to requests for repair or service. Identifies maintenance and system performance indicators. Participates in the development of and communicates action plans for improvement. Responsible for interior and exterior upkeep of distribution center facility and grounds.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitors and evaluates the overall performance of the ammonia refrigeration system and equipment
Maintain a fleet of material handling equipment including electric forks, pallet jacks and stock pickers
Maintain lead acid batteries and charging
Maintain facility equipment including high speed doors, dock equipment, balers, compactors
Coordinate preventative maintenance programs and schedules to reduce or eliminate operational downtime
Monitors sanitation team performance and completion of tasks in support of regulatory and organizational sanitation goals and requirements
Coordinates with DC employees to make repairs or changes to systems
Identifies and communicates maintenance department performance indicators
Collaborates with DC supervisors, managers and corporate maintenance personnel regarding current and future infrastructures and mechanical buildings/facilities needs and to helps develop action plans
Coordinates multiple mechanical and facilities projects simultaneously
Reviews departmental strategic goals and performance goals with site leadership
Processes site maintenance invoices in accordance with organizational processes and assists DC General Manager in development of the yearly capital plan
Monitors outside vendors, contractors and other third parties
Monitors facility compliance to OSHA and EPA standards, including Process Safety Management and Risk Management Plans and maintains safety manual
Assists with OSHA, EPA, DHS, DEA, FDA, FCC, Department of Health, and other regulatory agencies as appropriate or necessary
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Analytical skills and strong attention to detail
Ability to read drawings and schematics, electrical, mechanical, and voice and data communication drawings, and various diagrams
Working knowledge of computer maintenance management systems
Working knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems including compressors, vessels, condensers, evaporators, pumps, and safety systems
Working knowledge of electrical, security and fire protection systems
Comprehension of fire protection and security alarm reports, capital variance reports, and OSHA requirements/logs
Good written and oral communication skills
Computer skills: Word, Excel, AutoCad systems, and beginning level PLC knowledge
Competency to develop the required skill set of the technicians
EXPERIENCE &/OR EDUCATION:
Experience as a maintenance supervisor
Experience in ammonia refrigerated or similarly refrigerated distribution center environment
RETA certification preferred
Vocational training or college technical training preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS:
On-call twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week to support distribution center operations
Exposure to dust and noise
Exposure to extreme heat and cold, including freezers, coolers for long periods of time
