Primary Function:
Operates a blasting system that abrades surfaces of metal or hard composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart specified finish. The vast majority of blasting operations take place within a heated booth. Occasionally equipment is operated outside.
Operation of abrasive blasting equipment on both carbon and stainless steel. Blast media consists primarily of glass beads, steel grit and occasionally sand depending on contract requirements. Plans,
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Load and unload the blast booth
- Operate forklift
- Masks specified areas of object to protect from abrading action.
- Employee must be able to wear provided PPE consisting of blast hood, Tyvek protective wear, steel toed protective boots, leather gloves and hearing protection
- Examines finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Loads and moves materials to and from the work area.
- May occasionally assist the paint crew in paint prep and packaging
- May occasionally assist in the fabrication of shipping crates
- Cleans and prepares surface of articles to be painted.
- Assists in maintaining all equipment

*Minimum Qualifications/Experience:\ *High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
