Light of Christ Catholic Schools Staff Accountant in Bismarck, North Dakota

Light of Christ Catholic Schools is inviting applications for a Staff Accountant to perform a variety of accounting, finance, and support functions to assure the smooth and efficient operation of Light of Christ Catholic Schools (LOC).

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1.

Analyzes financial information to identify potential budget variances, compiles statistical information, and develops policies and procedures conforming to established financial practices and regulatory requirements.

2.

Compiles and maintains a wide variety of financial information, files, and records.

3.

Posts subledgers, journal entries, and fixed asset calculations.

4.

Assists in developing and maintaining the LOC and school/department budgets.

5.

Monitors various account balances and related financial activity to ensure that allocations are accurate, related revenues are generated, expenses are within budget limits, and fiscal practices are followed.

6.

Reconciles a wide variety of financial data including bank statements and monthly balance sheets.

7.

Researches discrepancies of financial information and/or documentation.

8.

Generates, prepares, and distributes a wide variety of reports, written materials, and electronic financial information, to include providing donor reports and reporting monthly to creditors, the Diocese, etc.

9.

Recommends, develops, and implements policies and procedures on issues that relate to accounting functions.

10.

Assists auditors by providing required supporting documentation and/or information on internal processes.

11.

Provides orientation and support to school/department/LOC personnel regarding procedures and program requirements.

12.

Responds to inquiries from a wide variety of sources (LOC employees, State and Federal agencies, auditors, etc.).

13.

Provides a variety of support/back-up functions to include:

a.

Accounts receivable and accounts payable

b.

Mission Advancement accounting

c.

Billing

d.

Deposits

14.

Provides support and assistance as requested for system-wide projects.

15.

Maintains strict confidentiality on private matters pertaining to LOC, the schools and its students, staff, and parents.

16.

Participates in unit/LOC meetings.

17.

Perform other duties as apparent or assigned.

Non-Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1.

Participates in in-service/professional development as determined by supervisor.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or a related field.

One year of related accounting experience.
