Overview

GovCIO is seeking a Project Manager to lead technical initiatives, combining technical expertise with strong project management skills to ensure successful delivery within scope and on schedule. schedule. This is a full-time, fully remote position open to candidates located within the Continental United States (CONUS).

Responsibilities

Project Manager will be a hands-on leader who will be responsible for day-to-day direct oversight of 3+ application sustainment/enhancement project(s).

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and key stakeholders, facilitating communication across internal teams and external partners

  • Oversee all phases of project execution, including planning, requirements definition, development, release management, monitoring, and reporting

  • Ensure delivery of project objectives in accordance with contract requirements and organizational standards

  • Manage schedule, risk, and performance metrics; proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies with appropriate escalation

  • Lead cross-functional teams, including technical SMEs, supporting legacy mainframe platforms and migration to open systems

  • Oversee sustainment activities including software enhancements, configuration management, and adaptive maintenance

  • Drive improvements such as consolidation and enhancement of reporting tools

  • Lead requirements development and translation (Epics → Features → User Stories) and manage dependencies and sequencing

  • Ensure Agile/Scrum methodologies are applied effectively throughout the project lifecycle

  • Deliver regular reporting, including weekly status reports, PMRs, scorecards, and OMR inputs

  • Provide direct oversight of team leads and staff; support hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations

  • Foster a motivated, proactive, and high-performing team environment focused on delivery and continuous improvement

  • Ensure project needs are met and escalate blockers to program leadership as needed

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's with 2-5 years (or commensurate experience)

  • Experience leading a team in an IT system environment

  • Experience managing a Scrum/Agile team with experience using Jira

  • Experience working with customer to establish requirements, PI Planning and seeing a project move through the software development lifecycle

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Competence in Microsoft Suite

  • Strong verbal and written skills

  • Positive attitude and willingness to step in, where needed

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience working with the VA

  • Experiencing overseeing multiple projects simultaneously

  • Experience supporting program goals

  • Experience collaborating with other project leaders

Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance.

Posted Salary Range

USD $100,000.00 - USD $115,000.00 /Yr.
