SCRAM Systems Marketing Intelligence Intern in Bismarck, North Dakota
LifeSafer is seeking a Marketing Research Intern to support the B2C/B2B/Brand marketing team during the Summer 2026 internship program. This role focuses on legislative tracking and competitive intelligence to help the marketing team stay informed and ahead in a regulated, fast-moving industry.
The intern will work closely with the marketing team, business development, and internal stakeholders to build and maintain a live 50-state legislative tracker, produce regular competitive intelligence summaries, and deliver research that leadership actively uses in planning and strategy discussions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Legislative & Regulatory Tracking
Monitor and summarize relevant legislation across all 50 states to keep the marketing and business development teams informed of regulatory changes that affect our market. The primary deliverable for this workstream is a live, maintained 50-state legislative tracker updated on a weekly basis.
Track changes to state DUI laws, interlock mandates, and compliance requirements across the U.S.
Build and own a centralized tracker in Excel or Google Sheets that the marketing and business development teams can reference and rely on
Compile weekly legislative update summaries with plain-language notes on what changed and why it matters for LifeSafer
Flag new developments that could represent market opportunities or operational impacts and brief the appropriate team members
Collaborate with the BD team to ensure legislative research supports their outreach and partner conversations
Competitive Intelligence
Monitor and summarize competitor activity to help inform LifeSafer’s positioning and messaging decisions. The primary deliverable for this workstream is a recurring competitive summary report shared with the marketing team on a regular cadence.
Track competitor activity across digital channels, industry publications, and partner networks
Monitor competitor messaging, promotional activity, and any notable product or market changes
Compile and distribute competitive summary reports for the marketing team’s use in strategy and planning discussions
Assist with research to understand why customers choose LifeSafer versus other providers in the market
Present findings and flag key insights to the Senior Marketing Manager and relevant internal stakeholders
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & WHAT YOU WILL GAIN
Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field
Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to summarize complex information clearly and concisely
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Self-motivated and reliable, comfortable working independently in a remote environment
Proficiency with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, including Excel or Google Sheets for building and maintaining trackers
Demonstrated ability to take initiative and follow through, in coursework, work experience, or extracurricular involvement
Preferred Skills
Experience in a customer-facing or communications role
Comfortable conducting online research and synthesizing information from multiple sources
Familiarity with basic research tools such as Google Alerts, LinkedIn, or industry news platforms
Familiarity with social media platforms and how brands use them
Experience using HubSpot or other CRM/marketing platforms a plus
