Stantec Principal Geotechnical Engineer in Birmingham, United Kingdom

We’re looking for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join us in our Birmingham city centre office on Edmund Street and play a key role in shaping and leading our local geotechnical presence. This is a genuine opportunity to take ownership, influence direction, and be part of a growing success story in the Midlands.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You’ll take on a leading position within our Birmingham team, acting as the focal point for geotechnical expertise locally while being supported by a wider Midlands team of 30+ geotechnical specialists and a national division of around 100.

Working under the leadership of Paul Eastwood , Geo Regional Director for the Midlands, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality geotechnical solutions across a diverse range of projects.

Your role will include:

  • Leading and delivering ground investigations and geotechnical designs

  • Developing robust ground models

  • Producing clear, high-quality interpretive reports

  • Designing geotechnical structures including foundations, earthworks, slopes, retaining structures and ground improvement solutions

  • Acting as a technical leader and growing the geotechnical capability within the Birmingham team

ABOUT YOU

You’re an experienced geotechnical engineer with strong UK consultancy experience and a passion for delivering high-quality work.

You’ll bring:

  • Proven experience scoping and delivering geotechnical investigations and designs

  • Strong ground modelling and interpretive reporting skills

  • Experience designing a range of geotechnical structures

  • Confidence working independently and leading technical delivery

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • A degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering (BEng, BSc or higher)

  • Chartered status with a relevant professional body
