Robert Half Fixed Asset Accounting Manager in Birmingham, Alabama
Description
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations for a company based in Birmingham, Alabama. This role will lead core accounting functions, including general ledger management, month-end close, and financial reporting, while supporting a variety of accounting areas across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience, a solid technical accounting foundation, and the ability to drive accurate and timely financial results.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
• Oversee general ledger activity, including account reconciliations and financial statement preparation
• Review and approve journal entries to maintain accuracy and integrity of financial records
• Manage and develop the accounting team, providing guidance, coaching, and support
• Partner with leadership to analyze financial results and provide insights for decision-making
• Support external audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
• Develop, improve, and enforce accounting policies and procedures
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment between accounting and operational teams
• Assist with fixed asset accounting, including tracking, capitalization, and depreciation
Requirements
• Strong background in general ledger accounting and month-end close
• Experience managing or mentoring accounting staff
• Solid understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls
• Exposure to fixed assets or willingness to learn and take ownership of that function
• Experience supporting audits and working with external auditors
• Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
