Binghamton University Lecturer in Spanish in Binghamton, New York

Location: Binghamton, NY Category: Faculty Job Type: Full-time Posted On: Tue Mar 10 2026 Job Description:

The Department of Romance Languages at Binghamton University is seeking to hire a lecturer in Spanish, beginning in August 2026, to teach courses primarily at the intermediate levels. This is a full-time position for up to three years, with possibility of further renewal. The teaching load is three courses per semester during the academic year. Language courses at the elementary and intermediate levels are taught with coordination throughout the department. We seek candidates who are enthusiastic about teaching language classes and able to bring knowledge of Spanish-speaking cultures into the classroom in innovative ways. Candidates will preferably have experience teaching a range of intermediate levels, for both second language learners and heritage speakers of Spanish.

Apart from teaching, this position involves departmental service, which includes working with and mentoring students outside the classroom (e.g. conversation tables, department programming, special events). Thus, in addition to teaching, the position requires an interest in interacting with students outside the classroom and working with colleagues to develop innovative extracurricular projects.

Lecturers are expected to actively contribute to the University's mission of advancing a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion through teaching and service, as well as through engagement with faculty, students, and staff.

A strong internal candidate has been identified for this position.
