Yellowstone County Weed Control Technician (Seasonal) in Billings, Montana
Yellowstone County is seeking a seasonal Weed Control Technician to identify, control, and manage noxious weeds. Will operate motor-driven application equipment using herbicides in the treatment of undesirable vegetation and perform light maintenance and calibration of all application equipment. Examples of Duties • Identifies noxious weeds and undesirable vegetation. • Mixes, applies, and records pesticides in accordance with work orders and applicable laws. • Review all chemical labels and safety data sheets (SDS) for each product before application. • Operates/uses application equipment: four wheelers, application delivery systems, shovels, weed eaters, biological controls, etc. • Calibrates and is responsible for the calibration of all spray equipment. • Responsible for the mixing and application of herbicides. • Responsible for the maintenance of all application equipment. • Properly disposes of empty chemical containers and rinsate materials. • Use and maintain all personal protection equipment recommended by the product label. • Assists the small engine mechanic with major maintenance of application equipment. • Performs related duties as required and as assigned. Minimum Qualifications • Graduation from high school or equivalent; or • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position. • Must meet minimum age requirements. • Must possess a valid MT driver's license (background check verification required), • Must have some knowledge of Yellowstone County Roads. • Must be able to lift and/or move 50 pounds. • Able to obtain a government applicator license issued by the State of Montana Dept. of Agriculture within 30 days of hire.
