Schedule: M-F, 8am-5pm

Employment Status: Full-Time (.75 or greater)

Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours every two weeks (Exempt)

Starting Wage DOE: CUSTOM.POSTING.WAGE

The RN Stroke Informaticist is responsible for advancing clinical practice and improving patient outcomes through the effective integration and utilization of Clinical Information Systems (CIS) in the practice environment. Assists in the planning, design, build, testing, implementation, stabilization, and ongoing evaluation and optimization of clinical information systems.

Essential Job Functions

• Supports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic’s mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.

• Maintains knowledge and adheres to standards and criteria designated by DNV and the American Heart Association (AHA)/American Stroke Association (ASA) “Get with the Guidelines” to maintain stroke accreditation.

• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current trends and issues in healthcare, nursing practice, healthcare informatics, national and state-wide standards and regulations, enterprise policies and procedures as related to clinical practice and the legal implications of the EHR and other clinical technologies.

• Respond appropriately to requests and concerns from users affected by the system.

• Maintain membership on or consultation to committees, work groups, or task forces as needed to communicate and facilitate the ongoing progress of the development, implementation and revision of the EHR.

• Collaborate with clinical systems directors and managers in evaluation of development efforts in planning pilot and full implementations of new EHR features, new clinical technologies, and in processing user feedback requests.

• Assists in coordinating investigations of state reportable incidents/complaints, sentinel events, citations and data collection for corrective actions.

• Participates in special projects related to quality issues; assists in recommendations and coordinating implementation of plan of corrective action; assists in preparing monthly variance reports for the leadership, physicians, and other hospital personnel as needed Presents patient specific issues and other concerns to appropriate leadership and Performance Improvement Committees for resolution of conflicts.

• Oversees maintenance of Stroke Registry for the purpose of performance improvement by measuring and evaluating plans to improve both the process of care and the outcome.

• Serves as Emergency Medical Services (EMS) liaison to coordinate activities such as: collaboration, education, communication, process improvement, and case reviews based on data collection.

• Participates in case review, standardizing practice guidelines, and & directs community stroke education and prevention programs.

• Participates in research selection, analysis, and distribution of findings, and facilitates protocol design for accurate data collection, feedback, and analysis.

• Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.

• Assists in coordinates of multidisciplinary stroke team efforts through effective communication and professional working relationships.

• Identifies multidisciplinary opportunities for improvement and assists team members with problem resolution through program development, implementation and evaluation.

• Assists in the development and evaluation of Stroke evidence-based guidelines, pathways, and protocols to reduce inappropriate variation in care.

• Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• 4 year degree in nursing

Experience

• Three years of experience in the above related tasks

Certifications & Licensure

• NIH Stroke Scale certification, required

• BLS and ACLS, required

• Current RN license in the state of Montana, required
