HW Burns Family LLC Farm/Irrigation/Livestock Worker in Big Timber, Montana

Total of three (3) workers needed: over two (2) staggered start dates. 

Staggered arrival dates: 

 Group 1: 2 workers on or about 1-5-26 

 Group 2: 1 worker on or about 5-1-26 

Duration of employment: 1-5-26 to 11-1-26. 

 

Workers will be required to perform a variety of duties related to the production of hay, grass, and beef cattle for the majority of the workdays in the overall contract period, commensurate with the duties encompassed within the five SOC Codes comprising the field and livestock workers (combined) category.

 

Applicants must have 20 days experience with farm and irrigation work, and beef cattle, including the ability to ride a horse, and provide the contact information of at least one reference who can verify experience and performance. Applicants hired must be able to obtain a valid Drivers License as driving on public roads may be required.

 

General Farm Work will include the following responsibilities: 

  • Maintain, drive, attach and operate farm implements/tractors/equipment to harvest crops; inspect, maintain and repair equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences; remove rocks from field; perform general cleanup of farm areas; drive, load/unload farm trucks on, or between, farm worksites; transport crops to onsite storage facilities; operate motor bike or all-terrain vehicle or ride horse in the course of performing duties; workers possessing the proper licensure may be asked to transport other farm workers. 

Irrigation duties will include the following: 

  • Flood Irrigation: clean ditches; set plastic dams. 

Duties related to the production of beef cattle will include the following: 

  • Check physical characteristics, observe general condition of beef cattle and horses and apply the appropriate care; examine animals to detect illness/injury/disease, rate of weight gain or to determine delivery time, assist in delivery; apply or administer medications/vaccines; feed/water beef cattle and horses; drive equipment to haul/distribute feed/water; herd beef cattle; hoist/stack bales of hay onto wagon/truck; herd beef cattle on hor

Following the verification of prior work experience and satisfactory performance, all qualified applicants will receive a phone call and/or written notification containing the date and time to call the employer regarding the job opportunity. The employer will accept collect telephone calls at the appointed time and will be able to converse in English only. Bilingual services for applicants may be obtained from local offices of the State Workforce Agency. Form I-9 will be completed no later than the first date of employment. Documentation of identity and employment authorization (original documents only) as required for Form I-9 under the Immigration Reform and Control Act must be presented to the employer for examination within three business days of the employees first date of employment.
