Job Title: Quality Inspector

Job Description

The Quality Inspector performs detailed inspections on finished metal products before shipment or further processing within the shop. This role focuses on ensuring that all parts meet strict quality standards and specifications by using precision measuring tools and interpreting blueprints in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed quality inspections on finished metal products before shipment or progression through the shop.

  • Verify that parts meet specified dimensions and tight tolerances using precision measuring equipment such as verniers, calipers, and micrometers.

  • Read and interpret blueprints to understand product specifications and inspection requirements.

  • Document inspection results accurately using computer-based systems and maintain clear records of quality checks.

  • Identify nonconforming parts and communicate findings to appropriate team members for corrective action.

  • Work closely with production staff in a metal shop environment to support continuous quality improvement.

  • Follow established quality assurance and quality control procedures throughout the inspection process.

  • Maintain a clean and organized inspection area and handle tools and equipment with care.

  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and use required personal protective equipment in a shop environment with welders, CNC machines, and other machinery.

Essential Skills

  • 1–3 years of experience in a quality inspection role within a manufacturing environment.

  • Hands-on experience in quality control or quality assurance, preferably in a metal or sheet metal shop.

  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment such as verniers, calipers, and micrometers to work with tight tolerances.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.

  • Basic computer skills to record and track inspection data.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when inspecting finished products.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a metal shop or sheet metal environment is preferred.

  • Familiarity with working around welders, CNC machines, and other metal fabrication equipment.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production setting with short to medium run projects.

Work Environment

This role is based in a busy metal shop environment with extensive machinery, including welders, CNC machines, and other fabrication equipment. The position follows a schedule of approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You will work around active production areas where moderate personal protective equipment is required, and you will regularly handle metal components and precision measuring tools in a hands-on, industrial setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Biddeford, ME.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
