The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) - Georgia Academy for the Blind is recruiting for an experienced part time hourly bus driver. Under general supervision, the candidate is under the supervision of Georgia Mobile Audiology director, the job responsibilities include but not limited to:
Description of Duties
Maintain a safe environment within the bus by enforcing rules of conduct and responding to emergencies
Enforce normal school system and/or state regulations while transporting groups
Responsible for meeting state driver licensure requirements and obeys all laws for operation of a school bus
Primary driver for Georgia Mobile Audiology and truck locations within the state of Georgia
Completes all start up and shut down procedures including set up and break down of stairs/railings/leveling, charging, checking gas, oil, water and fluids levels
Responsible for reporting mechanical defects upon detection to supervisor
Operate school bus in transporting students and staff on field trips, job sites, and various outings
Clean the bus at the end of each trip, stay with groups on all trips
Perform pre and post trip safety and maintenance checks
Advise supervisor of any maintenance or repair needs
Complete records of all trips and submit them weekly
When the driver is not driving the mobile audiology vehicle, he or she will also drive a bus for the Georgia Academy for the Blind fleet maintenance when needed
May have some overnight stay during travel
**Temporary/Part-time hourly position with no benefits. Statewide travel, including overnight stays, is required.Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
At least 3 years of school bus driving experience
Knowledge of basic motor vehicle and school bus operation
Knowledge of school bus safety policies and procedures
