Job Title: Electrical Designer
Job Description
This role focuses on designing and documenting industrial control systems for automated machinery and robotic integration projects. You will create detailed electrical schematics and panel layouts, specify and integrate control components, and support system startup and commissioning. The position offers the opportunity to work on fast-paced, 4–6 week projects where you can see your designs progress from concept through build and into operation, while collaborating closely with mechanical, robotics, and manufacturing engineering teams.
Responsibilities
Create detailed electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical CAD software.
Design control panels, power distribution systems, operator interfaces, and safety circuits for industrial automation and robotic systems.
Specify and integrate PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, sensors, and safety components into complete control solutions.
Assist with system startup and commissioning, including onsite field support as needed.
Collaborate closely with mechanical, robotics, and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure cohesive system designs.
Maintain accurate bills of materials (BOMs), technical documentation, and as-built drawings for each project.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and uphold established quality standards throughout the design and build process.
Work on multiple 4–6 week projects, managing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Contribute to the design of electrical panels for build, ensuring manufacturability, safety, and compliance with applicable standards.
Essential Skills
At least 2 years of experience using AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical CAD software to create schematics and panel layouts.
At least 2 years of experience in industrial controls or automated machinery design.
Hands-on exposure to designing electrical schematics and electrical panels for build.
Experience specifying and integrating PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, sensors, and safety components.
Strong troubleshooting abilities and system-level problem-solving skills in an industrial automation context.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams, including mechanical, robotics, and manufacturing.
Attention to detail in maintaining accurate BOMs, technical documentation, and as-built drawings.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN experience for detailed schematics and panel layout.
Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Robotics and automation experience is preferred, particularly in environments involving robotic integration and tooling solutions.
Interest in working on automated cutting, joining, and robotic welding solutions for general and heavy fabrication applications.
Willingness to support onsite field work during system startup and commissioning.
Desire to grow into higher-level roles, with openness to continuous learning and skill development.
Work Environment
This role is based in a facility that specializes in robotic integration and tooling solutions, with a strong focus on automated cutting and joining technologies. The site designs and builds custom tooling systems tailored for complex manufacturing environments and develops robotic welding solutions for general and heavy fabrication applications. The environment is fast paced, with typical projects lasting 4–6 weeks, allowing you to work on a variety of systems and see your designs move from concept to build and operation. Much of the build work occurs onsite, providing direct exposure to how your electrical designs are constructed and how they function in real systems. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $32.50/hr.
