JOB SUMMARY
The Education Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation and coordination
of the initial orientation and all on-going education and competency programs to meet
requirements of federal, state and accrediting bodies. Responsibilities also include coordination
and placement of nursing students and intern/observation clinical experiences at the VNA.
The intent of this job description is to provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Collaborates with managers to develop, conduct and document orientation activities forall employees.2. Collaborates with department managers to assess for and provide on-going continuingeducation, training, and competency activities to meet departmental, agency, regulatoryrequirements and strategic initiatives.3. Oversees the records management of all orientation and continuing education activities tomeet network, agency and regulatory standards.4. Collaborates with other SLUHN departments and outside organizations to utilizeresources for the provision of quality, effective education to agency employees.5. Evaluates the education program on an annual basis to determine achievement ofoutcomes and opportunities for improvement...6. Manages the cardio-pulmonary resuscitation certification program for staff and validatesthe competency of CPR instructors at a minimum of every other year.7. Collaborates with Network leaders in the provision of education to Network employeesthat impacts the continuum of care.8. Chairs and/or serves as advisor to the VNA Patient Education Committee and serves as amember on other committees as requested.9. Collaborates with institutional faculty and departmental leaders for the placement ofnursing and other students/interns for clinical education experiences at VNA.10. Participates in activities that promote professional growth and development.11. Demonstrates the ability to use appropriate computer software.12. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patientand environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.13. Demonstrates/models the Network’s Service Excellence Standards of Performance ininteractions with all customers (internal and external).14. Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: ClinicalCare/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, andSafety.15. Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective andefficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices.16. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.17. Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growthand development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.18. BSN preferred or working toward attaining within 5 years / OR 4-5 years of healthcare education experience
BLS Certification required.TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:Minimum 2 years Community Health or Home Health experience or 1 year in Education.
