Job Information

Philips Internship: MRI Reconstruction – Compressed Sensing in Extra Dimensions in Best, Netherlands

Start: as of May 2026

Duration : as of 5 months (but could also be a thesis for 9 months)

Hours : 32-40 hours per week

About the Project

Join us in advancing next-generation MRI reconstruction techniques ! Our team is developing a framework called Compressed Sensing Reconstruction in Extra Dimensions (CSXD) , which combines spatial and temporal constraints to significantly accelerate MRI scans. This approach goes beyond current Compressed SENSE technology and has the potential to improve diagnostic imaging for cardiac and quantitative applications.

As an intern, you will help mature the prototype into a product-ready solution . Your work will involve algorithm optimization, parameter tuning, and image quality validation on dynamic cardiac and T2 mapping datasets. You’ll gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge reconstruction methods and contribute to innovations that impact patient care worldwide

Your role:

  • Transfer the current implementation to our newest framework design and integrate in the code base

  • Experiment with advanced reconstruction algorithms (low-rank and sparsity constraints).

  • Optimize regularization parameters and improve convergence speed.

  • Validate image quality and acceleration performance on real MRI datasets.

  • Collaborate with experts in MRI physics, software engineering, and clinical applications.

You're the right fit if:

  • Studying towards Applied Mathematics , Physics , Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science , or related fields.

  • Interest in medical imaging and healthcare innovation .

  • Strong analytical mindset and willingness to learn advanced reconstruction techniques.

  • Strong programming skills in C++, familiarity with Python is a pre.

  • Understanding of MRI physics and reconstruction principles , including compressed sensing.

  • Knowledge of optimization algorithms and numerical linear algebra

  • Experience with image processing and signal analysis .

  • Ability to interpret experimental results and propose improvements

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.
