Job Description Summary
As Senior Project Engineering Manager (m/w/d), you are responsible for leading the engineering execution of large-scale EPC projects from the Berlin office, ensuring the successful delivery of complex High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) substation projects valued at $1–2B+.
You oversee a diverse, international engineering team and drive the delivery of engineering scopes for high-impact energy infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives in terms of schedule, cost, quality, and technical requirements.
In this role, you collaborate closely within the HVDC Solution Line and the global Project Engineering Management (PEM) department, working alongside experienced colleagues across Europe, the US, and Asia. You report directly to the local PEM team manager in Berlin and contribute to a dynamic, global PEM community.

Job Description
Responsibilities:
Lead the successful execution of engineering activities for complex HVDC projects, ensuring alignment with schedule, cost, quality, and technical requirements
Own the end-to-end delivery of the HVDC Solution Line engineering scope on large EPC projects
Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring integrated and consistent deliverables aligned with project milestones
Act as technical lead within the project, driving engineering decisions and managing interfaces across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and customers
Maintain effective communication with customers, partners, and suppliers on technical topics, ensuring transparency and trust
Identify, assess, and manage project risks through an up-to-date risk register and structured mitigation and change management processes
Ensure compliance with internal processes, EHS requirements, and industry best practices across the project lifecycle
Represent engineering in project governance, reporting progress, issues, and KPIs, and contributing to key project reviews and decisions
Support site teams during execution, enabling smooth transition from design to construction and commissioning and resolving technical issues
Mentor and develop project engineers, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Conduct regular project reviews of HVDC SL scope performance across time, cost, quality, and risk
Required Qualifications:
Engineering degree in Electrical, Power Systems, Electronics, or Automation
10+ years of experience as Project Engineering Manager or similar role in EPC environments (Energy, Transmission, Distribution, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, etc.)
Proven experience in Project Management; Engineering Management; Suppliers Management ; Customer und People Management
Proven track record of delivering at least 2 medium to large EPC projects
Experience managing engineering budgets of $5–10M+ Strong experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders in international and multicultural environments
Solid understanding of engineering project lifecycles, risk management, technical interfaces, configuration control, and change management
Strong leadership and communication skills, with ability to influence and represent engineering in internal and customer meetings
Fluent in English; German is a plus.
Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe and internationally
Desired Characteristics;
HVDC experience is a strong asset, but not required
Experience in large-scale infrastructure or industrial EPC projects
