We’re seeking a highly creative and strategic Senior Art Director to lead the visual direction of the Design Hotels brand identity and brand storytelling. This role is responsible for turning big ideas into compelling visual experiences across multiple channels while mentoring designers and maintaining a high creative standard.
You’ll partner closely with copywriters, strategists, and production teams to deliver work that is both visually stunning and strategically sharp.
This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, artistic sensibility, and hands-on design skills. You will strategize, ideate, design, and roll-out full corporate identity projects for our hotels, as well as for campaigns within the Design Hotels brand. You will be part of the Design Hotels Creative Team, leading projects and executing these independently, as well as within the team. You love design, have a strategic brain, and are passionate about the details. This position is primarily focused on art direction and brand identity design projects, not art direction for photography and film.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Conceptualize full brand identity campaigns: Lead the ideation and development of brand identity campaigns, ensuring they align with the client and brand's vision and goals
Brand Strategy: Develop and articulate brand identity strategies, executing these ideas throughout the entire design process
Creative Presentations: Prepare and lead creative presentations, showcasing concepts and design work to clients and to Design Hotels’ Senior Leadership Team
Full-Spectrum Creative Leadership: In cases where a bigger team is necessary, brief and manage a team of creatives, internally and externally, providing constructive feedback and fostering a collaborative environment. Guide the team from concept to final production, collaborating with producers and project managers to ensure the final product meets the brief and project’s vision
Industry Expertise: Remain on top of emerging brand and design trends, technologies, and techniques, consistently growing your knowledge to keep your creative work innovative and fresh
Project Management
Collaborate with project managers to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality
Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, presenting ideas and solutions in a clear and holistic manner
You will join the creative team of 20, consisting of art directors, designers, editors, writers, project managers, brand managers and media managers, all reporting to the Creative Director
Design Execution
Lead, as well as create high-quality, visually compelling designs across various mediums including print and digital
Oversee the design process from initial concept through final production, ensuring consistency and quality
Prepare files for all mediums, digital, and print
If need be, hop onto internal daily brand design work such as designing invitations, newsletters, social media posts
Portfolio Requirement:
Please submit a portfolio or samples of your work showcasing the variety of your design skills
Experience & Mindset
10+ years’ experience leading and executing creative strategy and design projects
Superb creative ideation skills
Strong leadership skills and strong ability to work inter-departmentally, and within internal and external-facing teams and collaborators
Outstanding communication and presentation skills to market creative work to potential clients and inspire them with our passion
Can-do attitude with an ability to problem-solve, be agile, think analytically, and tackle challenges quickly and effectively
Good organizational mindset and the ability work fluidly based on team needs
Proactive team player who shows initiative
Strong design skills with expertise in typography, layout, logo design and general graphic design
Keen eye for detail and aesthetics
Love for typography and layout
Expert Knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, XD and Keynote; animation and 3D programs being a plus
Passion for culture, design, hospitality, travel, and art
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design
Languages: English, other languages a plus
