Position Overview:
Consultation-Liaison role; provide consultation to ER physicians and MPI drug & alcohol services. This is a 64-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital with adjunctive eating disorder and ECT services. Psychologist evaluates patients virtually and/or in-person at the Ashby/Berkeley Emergency Rooms to determine 5150 hold status, as well as identifies and reviews general psychiatric admissions in the central intake department at the Herrick Campus. Provides mental health services to child, adolescent and adult inpatient and outpatient clients and their families. These services require autonomous decision making, assessment, treatment planning, interventions, discharge planning and internal and external community resource coordination. Performs other duties as assigned, including consultation with other clinical staff and supervision with psychology interns/post doctorates.
Job Description :
Schedules intake appointments and completes initial assessments within established timeframe.
Assess patient's functioning through interviewing techniques, collaboration with referral sources, psychological testing and patient observation.
Develops and reviews with the parent(s) and/or guardian(s), the client and other appropriate persons, a treatment plan with clearly defined specific and obtainable treatment goals based on the psychological assessment and diagnosis of child and adolescent patients.
Assists in developing, guiding, and monitoring therapeutic working relationships with patients and adjusts intervention methods based on patient's responses.
Revises the treatment plan and problem list as treatment goals are achieved, changed or updated.
Obtains and provides consultation/collaboration with other professional staff as requested or needed.
Makes appropriate referrals for medication evaluations, medical evaluations, employment/rehabilitation, financial assistance, and assures coordination and continuity of service through monitoring patient follow-up.
Ensures orientation of practicum students, pre and post doctoral students to job duties, department and hospital operations as related to the position.
Monitors present practices within assigned departments and investigates new mechanisms which may contribute to cost.
Provides regular supervisory support.
Supervises practicum students, pre and post doctoral students in performance of their roles.

Maintains strictest confidence of all patient protected health information (PHI) and protects all PHI from accidental, intentional, or inappropriate disclosure.
Performs care in compliance with department standards, policies, and procedures, as well as local, state and federal regulatory agencies to deliver the highest level of patient privacy and care.
Retains certification and completes mandated continuing education requirements to meet facility and regulatory agencies accreditation and licensure requirements.
EDUCATION:
Doctorate: psychology
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
APA licensed within the area of expertise
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of human development, psychological treatment, and intervention modalities with children, adolescents and adults.
Knowledge of psychosocial factors relevant to mental health, such as personality, human growth and development; interpersonal relationships; group process; family dynamics; community integration and socioeconomic resource provisions, including the relevance of these factors for personal change in treatment.
Knowledge of and adherence to American Psychological Association ethical standards.
Knowledge of the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, and psychotherapeutic modalities and interventions, including psychotropic medications.
Ability to effectively work with a wide range of psychiatric treatment problems of children, adolescents, adults and their families.
Ability to cooperatively work as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
Ability to make sound clinical decisions regarding assessing patient's acuity and appropriate dispositions.

Pay Range is $64.85 to $97.98 / hour
The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
