Airline Hydraulics Corporation Manufacturing Engineering Intern in Bensalem, Pennsylvania
The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will be required to support projects related to manufacturing operations, process improvement, and standards development. Responsibilities include assisting with time studies, shop floor layout improvements, lean initiatives, and the creation of work instructions and standard assemblies. The intern will also support documentation efforts for engineering and manufacturing processes. A wide degree of initiative and attention to detail is expected. Reports to the Standards - PM Team Lead.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Perform time studies on the manufacturing floor to support labor analysis, process evaluation, and productivity improvement efforts
• Assist with shop floor layout reviews and updates to improve workflow, organization, and space utilization
• Support lean and continuous improvement initiatives, including waste reduction, workplace organization, and process standardization
• Work with the Standards Engineering team to develop, organize, and maintain standard assemblies
• Create, revise, and organize general work instructions for engineering and manufacturing departments
• Observe and document current manufacturing processes to support consistency, training, and operational efficiency
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and operations personnel to gather data and support improvement projects
• Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and repeatability within manufacturing processes
• Support documentation and general engineering tasks as needed
Requirements:
• Pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
• Strong interest in manufacturing operations, process improvement, and engineering support
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with cross-functional teams
• Comfortable working in both office and shop floor environments
• Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and contribute in a hands-on setting
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts such as 5S, standard work, and continuous improvement is a plus
• Basic understanding of time studies or process observation methods is preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
• Ability to interpret basic engineering drawings, assembly documentation, or bills of material is a plus
• Strong written communication skills for documenting procedures and work instructions
