rBennington College welcomes applications for a Social Media and Admissions Coordinator. This role will join the Enrollment Management Team to build an online community through authentic, engaging content that increases Bennington\'s visibility and will also support Bennington Admissions activities. This position will require an on-site arrangement.
The Social Media and Admissions Coordinator will report to the Associate Director of Digital Marketing, with a dual report to the Director of Admissions. This role serves as Bennington College\'s central voice-and ear-in the social media landscape (\50%), and serves as the primary admissions representative for a small local region, occasionally requiring travel during the academic year to support the Admissions portfolio (\50%).
General Responsibilities
Social Media (\50%):
The ideal candidate will be curious, engaging, adept at content creation, thoughtful, and well-versed in social media, with an enthusiasm for data collection and evidence-based experimentation. The role will elevate Bennington\'s social media presence, authentically sharing the vibrant campus life, academic excellence, and plurality of voices that form the Bennington community.
- Create, schedule, and post content on Bennington\'s social media accounts. Support institutional priorities by overseeing the College\'s primary social accounts, including Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Threads, Facebook, Bluesky, and TikTok.
- Tell Bennington stories. Attend campus events, performances, lectures, and exhibitions to capture live content and interview students, faculty, alumni, staff, and special guests. Produce high-quality photo, video, and written content for platform-optimized use.
- Actively engage with online audiences by responding to comments, DMs, and mentions. Identify and amplify user-generated content that aligns with the College\'s voice and values. Draft emails and other supplementary communications as needed.
- Design and maintain reporting routines for social media analytics. Regularly review and share lessons, trends, best practices, and blind spots with colleagues to focus efforts on maximum impact toward collective goals. Track posts and campaigns\' performance using platform analytics tools; provide regular reports with recommendations for growth, engagement, and optimization.
- Continually assess what works in each space, revising and adapting as needed. Work closely with the Associate Director of Digital Marketing to identify and contribute to the conversations that matter to College constituents.
- Contribute to campaign planning, content calendars, and cross-platform strategies in collaboration with the digital marketing and Admissions teams; ensure that all content supports institutional goals and brand messaging.
- While differentiating content by platform, maintain a consistent tone, aesthetic, and visual identity that reflects Bennington\'s unique character and values.
- Maintain an accurate calendar of all official College social media posts. Assist in training colleagues from other departments on the effective use of social media and appropriate style guidelines.
Admissions activities (\50%):
Plan and manage the recruitment, admissions, and cultivation activities for specific geographic region(s) of the country. Primary responsibilities include developing strategy, cultivating and managing relationships, and reading applications from t e designated territory.
Promote Bennington College through college fairs, high school college nights, and events hosted by organizations that work with youth.
Contribute to specific administrative functions as determined by the Vice President of Enrollment and Director of Admissions to develop and sustain ongoing systems. Assigned administrative functions may include, but are not limited to: communication functions, social media platforms, student interns, on-campus and virtual events, training, or travel.
Work in partnership with Admissions Counselors to develop and manage territories and administrative functions.
Meet with prospective students and their families; engage in substantive conversation about their work, interests, college search, etc.; answer questions about the College, its educational philosophy, curriculum, and facilities. This may happen on the Bennington College campus, but will occur primarily at high schools, college fairs, or other off-campus sites.
Maintain correspondence with prospective students and current applicants. This may include email and telephone contact, as well as in-person meetings throughout the territory.
Review applications for admission and make recommendations for admission. Participate in admissions decisions as a member of the Admissions Committee.
