About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Technology Director - GEN AI Product Lead
In this role, you will:
Manage a team of engineering managers and engineering leads
Focus on delivering commitments aligned to enterprise strategic priorities
Build support for strategies with business and technology leaders
Guide development of actionable roadmaps and plans
Identify opportunities and strategies for continuous improvement of software engineering practices
Provide oversight to software craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions developed by the teams or third-party providers
Identify financial management and strategic resourcing
Set risk management guidelines and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
Develop strategies for hiring engineering talent
Lead implementation of projects and encourage engineering innovation
Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers
Lead team to achieve objectives
Interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies or industry forums
Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Technology Strategic Leadership
Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy
Required Qualifications:
10+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
4+ years of management or leadership experience
Desired Qualifications:
Core Tech Expertise
Good understanding of GenAI technologies (LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering, vector databases, model fine‑tuning, evaluation frameworks).
Experience leading enterprise AI product roadmaps, preferably in large-scale or regulated environments.
Ability to evaluate and select AI models, frameworks, and vendors based on cost, capability, risk, and long-term strategy.
Product Leadership
Ability to translate business outcomes into AI‑driven product strategies and ROI models.
Experience prioritizing features using data-driven decision-making and measurable KPIs.
Strong stakeholder management across tech, business, risk, legal, and operations.
Leadership & Collaboration
Experience leading cross-functional teams: principal engineers, SMEs, product owners
Ability to mentor teams on AI adoption and agile delivery.
Executive communication skills, including presenting strategy to senior leadership.
Job Expectations:
A high level of curiosity and outside-in perspective on the fast evolving AI Agentic and Model ecosystem
Come up with the product roadmap and Go-to Market strategy for the GenAI Platform features
Drive delivery through engineering leadership teams, ensuring secure, scalable, high‑quality solutions.
Partner with senior business, risk, and tech stakeholders to enable responsible AI adoption.
Strong presentation skills and prior experience presenting to Senior Leadership
