Job Description
As a Principal Engineer in Reliability & Quality Engineering , you will serve as the technical authority driving end‑to‑end reliability strategy, architecture, and systemic quality excellence for NAND‑Flash–based storage products. You will work across memory, firmware, product line, test engineering, and global manufacturing teams to ensure world‑class reliability and product robustness across the entire product lifecycle—from concept to high‑volume production.
This role requires deep technical expertise, strong cross‑functional leadership, and the ability to influence architectural decisions and long‑term technology roadmaps.
Reliability Architecture & Strategy
Define and own the reliability architecture for next‑generation storage solutions (SD, USB, SATA, PCIe/NVMe, SSD, UFS, e-MMC).
Develop comprehensive reliability qualification plans , life‑prediction models, and stress methodologies tailored for advanced NAND nodes.
Lead definition of reliability KPIs, guardbands, and risk‑mitigation strategies for new technologies (TLC/QLC/PLC, new controllers, new FW flows).
2. NAND System Behavior & Advanced Debug
Provide deep technical leadership in NAND characterization , endurance/retention modeling, ECC margining, and FW‑system interaction analysis.
Lead complex FA, RCA, and systemic corrective actions for high‑impact reliability issues.
Drive correlation studies across EVT/DVT/PVT, system‑level stress, and field‑return signatures.
3. Manufacturing Reliability Leadership
Collaborate with global factory teams on drive builds, reliability screens, mechanical tests , and production‑level quality improvement programs.
Lead factory‑side investigations, yield excursions, and process‑capability enhancements.
4. Cross‑Functional & Cross‑Site Technical Influence
Act as the technical leader across memory, FW, ASIC, product engineering, quality, and program management teams.
Review, challenge, and influence architectural decisions that impact product reliability.
Represent Reliability Engineering in customer reviews, supplier engagements, and executive technical forums.
5. Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Drive innovation in:
Predictive reliability modeling & analytics
Data‑driven stress optimization
FW‑based adaptive reliability management
Automation for reliability analysis and failure‑signature correlation
Identify long‑term reliability risks and proactively shape mitigation paths.
6. Mentorship & Technical Leadership
Mentor Staff/Senior engineers on reliability fundamentals, debug techniques, and system behavior.
Lead technical trainings, design reviews, and reliability readiness audits.
Qualifications
? Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or equivalent.
10+ years in reliability engineering, memory/storage system design, or product quality engineering.
Strong expertise in:
NAND flash memory architecture and physics
Storage system behavior (FW, controller, ECC)
Reliability methods (endurance, retention, disturb, thermal behavior)
FA, RCA, 8D methodology
Product/test engineering workflows and manufacturing operations
Strong understanding of storage interfaces: SD, USB, SATA, PCIe/NVMe, UFS, e-MMC
Exceptional analytical, presentation, and cross‑team communication skills.
? Preferred Qualifications
Experience with SSD reliability, embedded systems, Datacenter/Client SSDs, or high‑volume consumer flash products.
Background in Agile development and cross‑site program execution.
Experience influencing supplier (memory vendor) technology and design decisions.
Proven track record of driving reliability strategy at product or business‑unit level.
