General Motors Manufacturing CAE Engineer in Bengaluru, India

Work Arrangement:

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office four times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.

The Role:

The Manufacturing CAE engineer will execute the FEA analysis for all global product programs & will report to Engineering Manager – Virtual Engineering Paint. In this role, the CAE engineer delivers the FEA studies by meeting the internal/external quality metrics and timeline as requested by the global stake holders. The individual in this role will closely interface with SME of Mfg CAE to meet the CAE analysis requirements of Manufacturing Engineering fraternity.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform static and dynamic FEA simulation to validate product/process against manufacturing requirements for stiffness, rigidity & dimensional integrity. Scope includes but not limited to handling analysis, datum analysis, variation analysis etc

  • Achieve process excellence metrics like 100% First Time Quality & On time delivery by adhering to standardized work for all studies

  • Contribute for continuous improvements & complexity reduction initiatives in the team

  • Actively participate in testing and implementation of new technologies in virtual simulations including immersive opportunities in Body & Paint domain to gain competitive advantage.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business problems in the CAE Domain and translate them into AI solutions.

  • Actively participate in Innovation & Advanced Technology projects. Represent team in organization wide innovation initiatives/ competitions.

  • Capture and share lessons learned with the team / SME.

  • Support to drive core efficiencies within the team to meet GM’s GVDP milestones as defined by the Global center.

  • Stay current with emerging techniques in neural networks (PINNs), multi‑physics simulation acceleration, surrogate modelling, and physics‑informed learning.

  • Build, refine, and productionize AI/ML models for simulation prediction, design optimization, and automation of repetitive CAE tasks in collaboration with IT/AI teams.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Production/Automobile Engineering discipline

  • 4+ years of CAE experience in Automotive OEMs / Engineering Organizations.

  • Sound knowledge in CAE tools such as Hypermesh, ANSA , NASTRAN, Abaqus/LS-Dyna, Optistruct.

  • Sound knowledge in Finite Element Analysis and Strength of Materials.

  • Good knowledge in Teamcenter and visualization software such as TcVIs.

  • Fairly good understanding of any CAD software such as UG, CATIA, PRO-E etc.

  • Good knowledge of Manufacturing Requirements related to Body & Paint.

  • Solid understanding of GVDP/GLP, Quality Chain, DFMEA/PFMEA would be an added advantage.

  • Familiarity with OpEx tools, structured problem‑solving methods, GM‑GMS principles, and workplace safety systems

  • Experienced in working with multiple interfaces to deliver the results.

  • Basic Data analysis and research to implement process improvement opportunities.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Problem solving & analytical skills.

  • Programming skills in Python, MATLAB, CAE tool-specific APIs (Altair suite, NASTRAN, ANSYS APDL, Abaqus etc.), workflow automation.

  • Experience with ML frameworks like Pytorch, TensorFlow.

  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and assignments by closely working with SME Manufacturing CAE.

  • Should be able to organize and plan effectively in a fast-paced, demanding, dynamic and often ambiguous environment.

  • Ability to work with intercultural & multi-disciplinary teams to achieve enterprise goals.

  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, takes initiative/self-directed.

  • Strong problem-solving mindset and curiosity for AI/ innovation
