Additional interviews may be conducted for vacancies not filled in the first round of interviews. 1 position working out the Bemidji Truck Station, and 1 position working out of the Northome Truck Station. 2 positions.

Day to day work may include, but is not limited to:

  • Assisting in maintaining the roadway surfaces and shoulders

  • Debris removal from roadways, right-of-ways and roadsides

  • Assist with traffic control in high volume traffic settings/flagging

  • Road side mowing, trimming and landscape maintenance

  • Assist with installation and repair of signs and guardrails

These positions are anticipated to run from approximately April 22, 2026 - October 06, 2026. Applicants with shorter terms of availability are considered.

Regular summer hours for these positions are 6:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Thursday.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have written and oral communication skills sufficient to keep records, read and interpret directions.

  • Must have the ability to perform heavy manual labor work sufficient to complete assignments This includes bending, liftin, digging, reaching and loading heavy materials.

  • Ability to perform work in indoor and outdoor environments, including heat, cold, rain and wind.

  • Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the general public in-person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices; and to maintain routine written logs and simple records.

  • The position requires a valid Class D Driver's License at the time of application. This must be included in your application or resume when applying.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this job will vary but typically requires the ability to lift 100 pounds maximum with frequent moving and/or lifting or otherwise transfer of objects such as 50-pound bags. This job also may require walking or moving or standing or sitting to a significant degree on rough terrain or may involve sitting most of the time with pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls. This job will require strenuous physical labor including but not limited to digging, shoveling, hauling, crawling, bending, pushing, pulling and climbing. May require frequent exposure to weather elements year-round (cold and hot) on a daily basis as well as working near traffic and heavy construction/highway maintenance equipment.
