Job Title: 2nd Shift Header Operator Machine Apprentice Job Description
Embark on an exciting journey as a Machine Apprentice, where you will learn to operate, set up, and troubleshoot industrial machines used in the production of bolts, screws, and fasteners. This entry-level, paid training role offers you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Work alongside experienced operators or toolmakers.
Load raw metal into machines and remove finished parts.
Learn machine safety protocols and perform basic quality checks.
Keep work areas clean and organized.
Progress to machine setup and adjustments as skills develop.
Read blueprints and part prints.
Measure parts with gauges and calipers.
Perform basic troubleshooting.
Document quality and production data.
Essential Skills
At least 1 year of machining experience, either manual or automatic.
Experience in blueprint reading.
Proficiency with measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
Good mechanical aptitude.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience as a backyard mechanic or in a similar role.
Formal auto mechanic classes or experience at a quick service automotive shop.
GED/High school diploma is a plus.
Experience running Formax Header.

Work Environment
Join a large manufacturing shop with extensive metal fasteners production. Work with large metal machines, conveyors, and pallets of metal parts in a typically loud environment requiring ear protection. Safety gear such as safety glasses, steel-toe boots, gloves, or hard hats is essential. The 2nd shift runs from 3pm to 11:30pm, with initial training on the 1st shift from 7am to 3:30pm for 2-4 weeks, depending on your experience.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Belvidere, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
