Aerotek Machine Operator Technician in Belvidere, Illinois

Job Title: 2nd Shift Header Operator Machine Apprentice Job Description

Embark on an exciting journey as a Machine Apprentice, where you will learn to operate, set up, and troubleshoot industrial machines used in the production of bolts, screws, and fasteners. This entry-level, paid training role offers you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside experienced operators or toolmakers.

  • Load raw metal into machines and remove finished parts.

  • Learn machine safety protocols and perform basic quality checks.

  • Keep work areas clean and organized.

  • Progress to machine setup and adjustments as skills develop.

  • Read blueprints and part prints.

  • Measure parts with gauges and calipers.

  • Perform basic troubleshooting.

  • Document quality and production data.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of machining experience, either manual or automatic.

  • Experience in blueprint reading.

  • Proficiency with measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

  • Good mechanical aptitude.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience as a backyard mechanic or in a similar role.

  • Formal auto mechanic classes or experience at a quick service automotive shop.

  • GED/High school diploma is a plus.

  • Experience running Formax Header.

Work Environment

Join a large manufacturing shop with extensive metal fasteners production. Work with large metal machines, conveyors, and pallets of metal parts in a typically loud environment requiring ear protection. Safety gear such as safety glasses, steel-toe boots, gloves, or hard hats is essential. The 2nd shift runs from 3pm to 11:30pm, with initial training on the 1st shift from 7am to 3:30pm for 2-4 weeks, depending on your experience.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Belvidere, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
