Robert Half Divisional/Plant Controller in Belton, Missouri
Description We are looking for an experienced Divisional/Plant Controller to support financial leadership for a transport-focused operation. This is a Contract position suited for a detail-oriented candidate who brings strong expertise in manufacturing cost accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting within a plant or divisional environment. The ideal candidate will provide accurate financial oversight, strengthen cost visibility, and help guide sound operational and business decisions.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the monthly close process, ensuring financial results are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with reporting standards.
• Oversee plant and divisional cost accounting activities, including analysis of production costs, inventory valuation, and margin performance.
• Prepare and review financial reports that provide clear insight into operational results, spending trends, and key performance drivers.
• Partner with plant leadership to monitor financial performance, explain variances, and support effective planning and decision-making.
• Maintain strong controllership practices by reinforcing internal controls, reviewing financial data integrity, and supporting compliance requirements.
• Analyze manufacturing performance to identify cost-saving opportunities, improve efficiency, and enhance overall financial visibility.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities by translating operational data into reliable financial projections.
• Contribute to process improvements within accounting and reporting workflows to increase accuracy and consistency. Requirements • Demonstrated experience serving in a Plant Controller, Divisional Controller, or similar finance leadership role.
• Strong background in month-end close and preparation of timely, accurate financial statements and management reports.
• Proven knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, including inventory, standard costing, and cost variance analysis.
• Hands-on experience with cost accounting principles in a production or industrial environment.
• Solid understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and controllership best practices.
• Ability to interpret complex financial information and communicate findings to operational stakeholders.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and spreadsheet-based financial analysis tools.
