Amazon Sr. System Development Engineer, Amazon Technologies Portfolio, Reliability Engineering in Bellevue, Washington

Description

We're looking for a Senior System Development Engineer to lead technical strategy for building data platforms and AWS infrastructure that help maintenance teams understand complex robotics systems. You'll own the architecture, write code, and mentor engineers while working directly with operations teams on the floor.

This is hands-on technical leadership—you ship solutions, set direction, and raise the bar for the team.

Key job responsibilities

What You'll Do

Own technical strategy for data platforms and AWS infrastructure supporting global robotics operations

Build data pipelines and analytics tools that transform machine data into actionable insights for maintenance teams

Design scalable architectures using AWS services (Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, ECS/EKS, CDK)

Establish engineering standards for CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, observability, and testing

Work directly with technicians at fulfillment centers to understand challenges and validate solutions

Ship code regularly and iterate based on customer feedback

Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and hands-on collaboration

Travel to sites (up to 50%) to learn from customers and ensure solutions meet real needs

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 4+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields

  • Experience building and operating a cloud-based architecture

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI/ML technologies

  • Experience with data analysis and SQL

  • Experience building services using AWS products

  • Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership

  • Experience dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering measurable results in an agile environment

  • Experience leading technical support teams

  • Background in industrial automation, robotics, or reliability and maintenance engineering

  • Experience building tools that simplify complex systems for operational users

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
