Amazon Program Manager, Capital Management Business Excellence & Analytics in Bellevue, Washington
Description
The Senior Program Manager on the GOSS Capital Management Business Excellence and Analytics team serves as a strategic leader responsible for establishing and executing the measurement infrastructure that powers data-driven decision-making across Amazon's $30B capital portfolio. This individual will own one of three critical functional areas: Business Reviews and Executive Reporting, Standards Creation and Continuous Improvement, or Predictive Analytics and AI Strategy. The SPM will design and deliver the systems, processes, and insights that enable Capital Management to transform from a transactional approval function into a world-class investment organization, ensuring every capital dollar is tied to measurable strategic outcomes.
Key job responsibilities
Functional Ownership:
Own end-to-end delivery of one of three functional areas: (1) Business Reviews and Executive Reporting (Daily Digest, WBR, MBR, QBR), (2) Standards Creation and Continuous Improvement (centralized repository, compliance tracking, process optimization), or (3) Predictive Analytics and AI Strategy (forecasting models, AI-powered automation, portfolio intelligence)
Establish the operating cadence, deliverables, and success metrics for your functional area in partnership with Capital Management pillar leaders (Planning, Operations, Governance, Investment Strategy)
Build and maintain the infrastructure (dashboards, reporting templates, standards documentation, predictive models) that serves as the single source of truth for capital performance data
Strategic Leadership:
Partner with Capital Management leadership to translate business strategy into measurable KPIs across Planning, Operations, Governance, and Investment Strategy pillars
Design and deliver executive-ready insights that inform portfolio-level decisions, resource allocation, and transformation progress tracking
Identify opportunities for process optimization and continuous improvement based on performance trends, root cause analysis, and stakeholder feedback
Serve as the voice of data quality and measurement rigor, holding upstream stakeholders accountable for accurate, timely data submission
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Infrastructure PMO, business teams, Compliance, and GOSS Tech to ensure data pipelines are accurate, systems are integrated, and standards are enforced
Facilitate quarterly reviews between Governance, Planning, and Business Excellence and Analytics to close the feedback loop and drive organizational learning
Collaborate with the other two SPMs to ensure seamless handoffs and integrated delivery across all Business Excellence and Analytics functions
Team Development:
Mentor and develop Business Analysts, providing guidance on analytical approaches, stakeholder management, and career growth
Build a culture of automation over manual work, collaborative standard-setting, and transparent measurement without punitive accountability enforcement
Scope & Influence:
Owns one of three mission-critical functional areas that enable Capital Management's transformation from reactive funding bottleneck to strategic investment engine
Influences capital deployment decisions across all business units (Fulfillment Centers, Last Mile, Sort Centers, AMXL, WFS, Fleet Infrastructure) spanning North America and international regions
Serves as trusted advisor to VP and Director-level leaders, providing data-backed recommendations that shape portfolio strategy and operational priorities
Drives organizational change through measurement infrastructure, ensuring the transformation scales as the portfolio grows from $30B to $40B by 2028
Communication:
Delivers executive-level presentations to VP and Director audiences, translating complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations
Writes compelling narratives that tell the story behind the data, connecting performance trends to strategic priorities and business outcomes
Facilitates productive dialogue across Capital Management pillars, asking the right questions and surfacing insights that drive alignment and decision-making
Maintains transparent communication with stakeholders about data quality issues, reporting limitations, and areas requiring improvement
A day in the life
Your morning begins by reviewing overnight data refreshes and validating that all dashboards and reports are accurate before stakeholders begin their day. You're triaging any data quality issues, coordinating with tech teams on pipeline fixes, and ensuring the Daily Digest is ready for leadership review.
Mid-morning brings strategic work: you're building the predictive model that forecasts supplemental risk by Planning Readiness score, refining the MBR deck based on VP feedback from last month, or updating the standards repository with new CAR templates. You're not just reporting what happened—you're building the infrastructure that enables the organization to see what's coming and act proactively.
Midday is collaboration time: you're in a working session with the Planning Pillar lead to define Planning Readiness scoring criteria, partnering with Governance to design the S-curve analysis that tracks project performance, or facilitating the quarterly review where governance insights feed back to planning. You're translating between technical data teams and business stakeholders, ensuring everyone understands what the data is telling us and what actions to take.
Afternoons are for delivery: you're finalizing the QBR presentation that shows transformation progress against the 80/20 target, documenting the continuous improvement process that reduced approval cycle time by 11 days, or training Business Analysts on the new predictive analytics framework. You're also fielding ad-hoc requests from leadership—"Can you pull the supplemental rate by region for the last 6 months?"—and determining whether it's a one-time analysis or something that should be automated into a dashboard.
Before signing off, you're reviewing your functional area's roadmap, prioritizing next quarter's deliverables, and ensuring your team has what they need to execute. You're also checking in with the other two SPMs to ensure your work is integrated and the full Business Excellence and Analytics vision is coming together.
