Manager II, Engineering (Multiple Positions), Databricks, Inc., Bellevue, WA. Plan, direct, and coordinate computer systems and network infrastructure to support Databricks' data and AI products. Manage the Traffic Platform team responsible for SQL, AI, and distributed data processing workloads in a SaaS environment. Design and implement multi-cloud connectivity solutions with security controls to prevent data exfiltration. Oversee largescale distributed systems, including container-based services, ensuring availability, scalability, and performance. Establish technical standards, including architecture and code reviews, to maintain engineering excellence. Collaborate with product management, engineering, operations, sales, and customer success to deliver high-quality networking and data systems. Recruit, hire, and mentor engineering staff, provide feedback and career development, and coordinate long-term technology roadmaps. Implement efficient processes to enhance delivery speed and quality while ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Telecommuting permitted. (DBxWA018).

[MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS]{.underline}[:]{.underline}

 

Must have a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field, plus 36 months of software engineering experience.

 

Alternatively, will accept Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field plus 72 months of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in software engineering.

 

Of the required experience, must have 24 months in each of the following (which may be gained concurrently):

  • Managing engineering teams, including recruiting, hiring, and supervising software engineers to support project and product delivery;
  • Working with large-scale distributed web services, distributed systems, databases, compilers, and performance optimization;
  • Big data systems such as Apache Spark or Hadoop;
  • Developing and maintaining long-term technology roadmaps for software teams to ensure timely delivery of projects and products, including monitoring and meeting service level agreements (SLAs);
  • Establishing and implementing efficient engineering processes to improve software development velocity and product quality; and
  • Managing teams responsible for building and operating high-volume distributed systems in a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), machine learning, or data-intensive environment.
