This position is part of the operations team. Responsibilities of this position include:

• Must be able to apply basic primer and to apply finish paint or complex coatings, i.e.. epoxy, zinc rich primer, etc..
• Must clean each piece to the required surface prep., i.e. sp-1, sp-2.
• Must be able to work alone or as part of a team.
• Must be able to apply paint consistently to mileages spec'd on the drawings.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be agile and able to climb over horses for painting and ladders for loading trailers.
• Must inspect all pieces for runs, light or missing areas. Repair or touch up as needed.
• Responsible for assisting with loading of each piece after it is painted and inspected.
• Responsible for assisting in setting up pieces from the welder's horses.
• Responsible for keeping all paperwork up to date in compliance with AISC and TSI standards.
• Must be able to operate both jib and overhead cranes.
• Work closely with plant manager and shop superintendent to determine production schedules and delivery schedules.
• Work closely with other painters to develop shop flow for each project.
• Assist with moving loads in and out as needed.
• Assist Plant Manager and Shop Superintendent per their requests.
• Other work as assigned by Thomas Steel executives.

Must be able to use both wet and dry mill gauges.
