Home-Based Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Various Hours Available

Serving Clients Throughout Centre County, PA

$1,000 Signing Bonus | $15.00 - 20.00/HR

Abound Health is hiring compassionate, reliable Home-Based Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) throughout Centre County, including State College, Bellefonte, Milesburg, Pleasant Gap, Boalsburg, and surrounding areas.

Most clients receive 4, 8, or 10 hours of support per week, so we are seeking caregivers who are open to part-time hours and willing to work with multiple clients across the week to build a consistent schedule.

About the Role

As a DSP, you will provide one-on-one support in clients’ homes and communities. Your work helps individuals live safely, independently, and with dignity. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, dependable, and passionate about helping others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support behavioral, social, and vocational skill development

  • Assist with recreational and community activities

  • Follow treatment plans and document progress

  • Provide companionship and respite care

  • Submit documentation and payroll on time

  • Participate in ongoing training

  • Assist with personal care needs as required

  • Work independently in home and community settings

    What We’re Looking For

  • Genuine interest in supporting individuals with I/DD

  • Ability to work independently and responsibly

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and active car insurance

  • Must be willing to drive to multiple client homes throughout Centre County

  • Open-minded and comfortable supporting individuals with varying personal-care and behavioral-support needs

  • At least 18 years old

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to pass background checks

  • Physical ability to assist with lifting or transfers if needed

  • CPR/First Aid certification (training provided)

    Compensation

  • $15.00–$20.00 per hour

  • $1,000 signing bonus for qualified candidates

    Schedule

  • Various hours, flexible scheduling

  • Morning, afternoon, or evening shifts available

  • Most clients require 4–10 hours per week, so DSPs must be willing to support multiple clients to build a consistent schedule

  • 20+ hours per week available depending on caseload

    Experience

  • 1 year of caregiving experience preferred (not required—training provided)

    Signing Bonus Details

  • $333 after 90 days (minimum 20 hours/week)

  • $333 after 6 months (minimum 20 hours/week)

  • $334 after 1 year (minimum 20 hours/week)

    Bonus not available for Residential Services or Relative as Provider (RAP) hires. Applicants must not have worked for Abound Health or its affiliates within the past 18 months.
