The Job:

The Product Development Engineer is responsible for leading the design and development of new hand operated and automated power tools for the industrial market. Tools will include corded and battery powered precision torque drivers developed for our Stanley Assembly Technologies group and hydraulic, pneumatic and battery powered riveting tools for our industrial group. Primary responsibilities will include overseeing the product development process for core products and managing all aspects of advanced development projects through production release. Individual will drive the advancement of core competencies, design best practices and knowledge-based engineering while incorporating these principles into new designs.

You’ll get to:

  • Lead the product engineering initiative through use of Pro-E/Creo and Solidworks in product design development.

  • Mechanical Gear design calculations, specification of materials, heat treatment and fabrication methods

  • Conduct simulations as required using KissSoft/Romax

  • Create 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software

  • Work with applications engineering team and commercial team to implement customer requirements into new product designs

  • Determine feasibility/risk assessments using both practical and analytical methods (rapid prototyping, design stack ups, design studies, DFMEA, testing plans, etc.)

  • Support transition of new parts from design to production phase including support of operations and quality as required

  • Create and review engineering documentation and change requests

  • Effectively communicate status of active projects through weekly status reports and assure timing metrics are met for all deliverables

You also have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering to be determined by leadership.

  • Experience of 4-6 years in design of complex Mechanical systems especially Gears

  • Experience in the use of Pro-E/Creo and Solidworks design tools

  • Experience in the use of KissSoft/Romax for design and performance simulations

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes.

  • Knowledge of inspection and measuring equipment techniques.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Project management skills with emphasis on meeting deadlines.
