Job Description
The purpose of this position is to perform campus-wide maintenance functions and serve as the campus locksmith, servicing and maintain campus wide access control, mechanical, and electrical hardware associated with the college interior and exterior doors; as well as locks/cores for various furniture and fixtures. This is accomplished by conducting routine inspections of buildings and equipment; completing preventative maintenance operations; maintaining log sheets of completed work and responding to emergency work order situations.
Other duties include greasing motors and parts, equipment filter changes, repairing roads and sidewalks; servicing light fixtures; conducting light carpentry work; and repairing or replacing necessary equipment and parts, monitoring pool chemical levels; changing caustic soda barrels out of the domestic water system; hanging pictures and repairing walls, completing grounds work; and posting College signs.
This is a non-exempt staff position.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Education
High School/GED
Required Experience
A minimum of 3 years professional work experience in locksmithing or related fields
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to serve as the campus locksmith
Maintain records of keys and locks;
Ability to perform preventative maintenance of locks and hardware.
Ability to performs access control hardware troubleshooting and repair, along with preventative maintenance.
basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry skills
HVAC knowledge
skilled in the safe use of hand and power tools
ability to effectively communicate and work in a team-oriented environment
ability to prioritize maintenance tasks and work independently
Competent computer skill with abilities to navigate building automation to diagnose mechanical issues, ability to use online web portals to track work hours and ability to send emails and respond to work orders.
Ability to obtain Pool Operators license within one year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a higher education environment
Trade license and/or certification
ALOA Certification
Hours per Week 40 - 100%
General Weekly Work Schedule
Work hours are from 7 AM till 3 PM Monday thru Friday with a rotating 1pm-9pm evening shift and occasional Saturday hours.
