Under the general direction of the Maintenance Coordinator, the Custodian supports the work of the MAC YMCA. The MAC Y intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined while also overseeing the maintenance and improvement of MAC Y facilities and its equipment.

Responsibilities

1. Assist in day to day custodial needs based on facility needs for the day.
2. Performs various duties such as vacuuming, maintaining entrances, locker rooms, hallways, and various rooms and offices throughout the facility.
3. Reports items that need repair.
4. Performs sidewalk/exterior clean up.
5. Disposes of trash.
6. May set up furniture for special events.
7. Performs preventative maintenance as needed.
8. Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate the code of conduct.
9. Keep supplies organized, maintain and clean facility and care for equipment.
10. Assists in closing and opening of the facility.
11. Must have the ability to use equipment and chemicals in prescribed manner, including ability to read labels, SDS information sheets, and instructions.
12. Perform operations of scrubbing, sweeping (broom and vacuum), mopping, dusting, etc. involved in the daily cleaning of the MAC Y by using hand and machine cleaning tools in:

• Restrooms/Locker Rooms
• Classrooms
• Hallways
• Drinking Fountains
• Toilets
• Glass
• Furniture
• All types of flooring such as wood, tile, carpet, floor mats etc.
• Required to perform duties in a timely, safe and efficient manner

• Other Duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Understand the GSV Y mission, the purpose of its programs, and be committed to the corporate operating principles.
• The ability to communicate and get along with people of diverse backgrounds is required.
• Must be able to read and be capable of interpreting oral and written instructions
• Capable of working independently and be organized
• Ability to lift reasonable loads 25-30 pounds in daily routine.
