Job Description
JOB TITLE:Lifeguard
CLASSIFICATION:Nonexempt
REPORTS TO:Director of Athletics
PAY:
$12.00 an hour
LOCATION:Beaumont ISD Memorial Stadium
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Responsible for ensuring the safety of swimmers by preventing and responding to emergencies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Certified lifeguard
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
- An understanding of facility rules, policies and procedures
- Decision-making skills
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITEIS AND DUTIES:
- Recognize and respond quickly and effectively in emergencies
- Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations
- Complete records and reports
- Participate in regular in-service training sessions
- Maintain fitness level (swimming skills, strength and endurance).
- Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Demands
- Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid.
Environmental Demands
- May be exposed to a high humidity and 86-degree temperatures indoors and outdoors will be exposed to the varying weather conditions, which could include cold, rain, and extreme heat.
