Responsibilities You will answer telephone calls, providing accurate information and authoritative interpretation of rules. You will interview personnel to verify eligibility for federal government identification cards and update personal data in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS). You will type correspondence, including lost ID card justifications and various assistance letters and forms. You will set up and maintain files of correspondence, circulars, regulations, bulletins, and orders, and select materials for destruction or transfer to records depositories. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Processing customer applications and enrollment transactions; reviewing records and source documents to verify accuracy and eligibility; interpreting and applying program rules and regulations; communicating requirements to customers with tact and clarity; and utilizing automated systems and office equipment to produce official credentials and maintain records. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
