Position Details:
Job Type: part-time, permanent
Vacancy: This position is being added to expand our team in preparation for the upcoming busy season and does not reflect a current vacancy
Compensation: $18-20 per hour

What you will be doing:
As an Event General Labourer, you’ll play an essential role in ensuring our event spaces and properties are safe, functional, and impeccably maintained. From supporting event set-ups to maintaining indoor and outdoor spaces, your hands-on work directly contributes to delivering exceptional guest experiences and seamless events.
Your responsibilities will include:
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and overall presentation of event properties, ensuring all amenities are fully operational
Assist with event set-up and tear-down, including furniture arrangements, décor changes, and technical elements such as lighting, sound systems, special effects, and pyrotechnics, in accordance with BEOs
Support indoor property maintenance, including painting, minor plumbing repairs, and replacement of bulbs and batteries in guest areas
Perform outdoor maintenance duties to ensure guest safety and property appeal, including snow removal, landscaping, and general grounds upkeep
Ensure all fire safety equipment and materials are accessible, compliant, and in proper working condition
Assist the maintenance team with preventative maintenance tasks, routine repairs, and equipment cleaning
Perform ladder work safely, including cleaning and maintaining high fixtures throughout the property
Identify maintenance issues, recommend improvements, and communicate updates to the appropriate teams
Utilize inventory tracking systems to manage tools, equipment, and cleaning supplies
Assist with office moves, furniture deliveries, and loading and unloading as required
Clean event spaces, offices, and washrooms, including floor stripping and waxing on a scheduled basis
Participate in safety discussions and proactively address priority concerns to maintain a safe work environment
Support a collaborative team environment and contribute to continuous improvement across operations
Complete Porter duties including but not limited to:
Set up each event space to reflect the client's vision
Transport set up items to event locations
Prepare event spaces by moving, arranging and setting up furniture as per the event contract
Set up tables, chairs and decor based on number of guests attending the event
Tear down tables, chairs and decor after the event commences
Other duties as assigned
What Makes You a Strong Fit
Previous experience in a general labour, maintenance, or hospitality support role is considered an asset
Hands-on, dependable, and safety-focused with a strong work ethic
Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying, ladder work, and extended periods of standing or walking
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining clean, safe, and well-organized workspaces
Comfortable assisting with event set-ups, tear-downs, and property maintenance tasks
A proactive team player with the ability to work independently and follow direction when required
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, event-driven environment
Positive, professional attitude with strong communication skills
Availability to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by events
Willingness to follow safety procedures and properly use tools, equipment, and cleaning products
Reliable transportation required
