Bay County Attendant/Custodian in Bay City, Michigan
There are two job vacancies at the BAY COUNTY COMMUNITY CENTER.
JOB TITLE: PART-TIME COMMUNITY CENTER ATTENDANT/CUSTODIAN*
RATE OF PAY: $14.51 per hour entry, progressing to $17.02 per hour after 1 year (TS04)

This part-time position with limited benefits is included in the USW Part-time County unit, although membership in the union is voluntary.
GENERAL SUMMARY: Performs a variety of tasks to assist in the operation of the Bay County Community Center and Canteen. Performs routine support tasks to assist in initiating recreational activities, cash handling, setting up for programs, and custodial duties. This position will be required to work at the Canteen, located at the Bay County Fairgrounds as well and that location will primarily be custodial duties. Evening and weekend shifts may be required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Provides counter assistance, receiving materials, issuing standardized documents and customer service information in accordance with instructions. 2. Accepts payment from members of the public and issues receipts though the computerized point of sale system. Ensures cash handling procedures are followed when checking out. Handles deposits and deposits advices. 3. Checks-in members, ensures customers are following check-in procedures. 4. Informs customers of rental opportunities, ensures proper forms are filled out in accordance with procedures. Shows rental rooms to customers as needed. 5. Serves as a receptionist, greeting visitors, setting appointments, interviewing for standardized background information. Answers and direct telephone calls. 6. Assists Community Center staff in preparing for activities and sets up rooms and equipment such as set up of numerous tables and chairs for parties and functions required. 7. Sets up tables and chairs, tears down tables and chairs, and custodial work at the Canteen before and after scheduled events. 8. Cleans and sanitizes fountains, restrooms, locker rooms and replenishes supplies and dispensers. Wipes down and sanitizes fitness equipment. 9. Dust mops and wet mops floors and stairways and operates vacuum to clean carpet areas as well as other custodial duties as appropriate. 10. Checks lights and secures windows and building entrances after cleaning or on a regular schedule. 11. Reports irregular activities and advises supervisor of conditions requiring major maintenance or repair. 12. Snow removal and salting sidewalks during winter months may be required. 13. Consistent and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position. 14. All other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Some experience is preferred in cleaning large buildings or office complexes. Ability to work with the computerized point of sale system. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be willing to work weekends. Must be able to lift, setup and tear down tables and chairs, volleyball nets or other recreation-based equipment. Applicants may be required to take written and/or other examinations. Physical: Must be able to move objects up to 50 pounds occasionally with or without reasonable accommodations. This position requires sitting, being mobile, bending and/or standing for significant periods of time.
