Robert Half Procurement Specialist in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to join our team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This is a short-term contract to permanent position that requires expertise in purchasing methods, procurement procedures, and contract management. The ideal candidate will possess a strong ability to evaluate goods and services, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Review and approve departmental purchase orders for equipment, materials, supplies, and services to ensure accuracy and compliance.

• Assist in the evaluation process by coordinating with team members, vendors, and contract negotiation teams.

• Draft and review bid specifications, analyze vendor submissions, and facilitate bid openings.

• Provide guidance to staff on purchasing needs, standardization, and procurement policies.

• Administer credit card programs, monitor electronic purchase orders, and ensure smooth purchasing operations.

• Maintain detailed records of procurement transactions, vendor files, and applicable policies.

• Conduct audits of procurement records to verify compliance with laws, regulations, and policies.

• Train and mentor staff on purchasing procedures and best practices.

• Investigate and resolve contract discrepancies while preparing thorough documentation.

• Prepare periodic reports and recommend improvements based on the latest procurement trends.

Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in procurement or related field.

• Strong knowledge of purchasing methods, federal and state regulations, and public buying procedures.

• Proficiency in automated purchasing systems and advanced computer skills, including spreadsheets and databases.

• Excellent analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to evaluate goods and services effectively.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a customer-focused approach.

• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.

• Familiarity with contract management, cost analysis, and enforcement of contractual obligations.

• Capability to develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors, customers, and team members.
