The Department of Justice, Office of Attorney General Liz Murrill, is seeking applications for an IT Systems Administrator in the Administrative Services Division. Salary offered will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate selected.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 5–7 years of relevant experience as a Systems Administrator or similar IT infrastructure role in a medium to large enterprise environment;

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Administration (Exchange Online, Intune, Teams, SharePoint) and Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD;

  • Experience with Conditional Access and Identity Protection, Active Directory & Group Policy Management;

  • Knowledge of Windows Server 2019 or newer, PowerShell scripting for automation and administration;

  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP networking, VLANs, routing, and firewall configuration (Cisco preferred);

  • Experience with endpoint security and patch management tools;

  • Strong working knowledge of virtualization technology (VMWare/Hyper-V);

  • Strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting abilities;

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment;

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across technical and non-technical teams;

  • Customer-focused mindset able to communicate complex ideas in non-technical terms ;

  • Able to work independently and within a team, thriving in high-volume, dynamic settings;

  • Primarily office-based, though occasional travel and after-hours or weekend support may be required during critical system events or upgrades;

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. for hardware setup or maintenance.

    Preferred Qualifications/Certifications:

  • Microsoft Certified Associate (or higher) in 365, Azure, or Security;

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA);

  • CompTIA Security+ or Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900);

  • ITIL Foundation or equivalent process-oriented certification.

Job Specification

The IT Systems Administrator will be responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimizing the organization’s on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure. This role requires a seasoned professional with 5–7 years of experience in enterprise environments managing hybrid Microsoft ecosystems, network infrastructure, and cybersecurity frameworks. This person will ensure system reliability, data integrity, and operational efficiency while supporting agency users and critical business applications.

Job Duties and Other Information

The duties of the IT Tech Support/Analyst may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution for escalated Level 1 and 2 service tickets involving Windows 11 workstations, Microsoft 365 applications, and related technologies;

  • Support and maintain end-user computing environments, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment (printers, copiers, scanners, etc.);

  • Administer and support Microsoft Intune for device configuration and application deployment;

  • Perform basic administrative tasks in Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and on-premises Active Directory, including user and group management, password resets, account unlocks, and permissions assignments;

  • Manage service tickets with strong attention to documentation and timely follow-ups;

  • Support Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Outlook;

  • Provide on-site and remote assistance to end users, ensuring minimal disruption to operations;

  • Support the rollout and maintenance of security updates, patches, and endpoint protection tools;

  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues involving TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN;

  • Collaborate with Systems Administrators and Network Engineers to escalate and resolve complex issues;

  • Contribute to the development and documentation of standard operating procedures and user guides;

  • Participate in IT projects such as software rollouts, migrations, and system upgrades.
