WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR TRAINEE
The City of Batavia is seeking a Water Treatment Plant Operator Trainee. This trainee position involves learning the operation and maintenance of a water treatment plant under the direct supervision of a qualified operator, with on-the-job training provided to become a certified water treatment plant operator. Performs related duties as required.
The salary range: $25.48 - $30.01 per hour
Key Responsibilities Include:
Learn water treatment plant operations through on-the-job training and supervision Assist with operating, adjusting, and monitoring pumps, valves, and mechanical equipment Support inspection, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment Conduct basic physical water tests (color, odor, taste) Conduct basic chemical water tests (alkalinity, residual chlorine) Assist with chemical treatment processes, including chlorination and chemical feeders Help clean and maintain filters and settling basins Maintain operational records and assist with reporting Perform progressively responsible duties as training and experience increase
Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a high school diploma or an equivalency diploma recognized by the New York State Department of Education.
