Job Title: Welder

Job Description

This role focuses on welding steel enclosures that house diesel generators and diesel fuel oil supply tanks. You will perform layout, fitting, and MIG welding on mild steel while working from blueprints and shop drawings. You will contribute to high-quality fabricated products in a busy manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG welding on mild steel components used in steel enclosures and diesel fuel oil supply tanks.

  • Lay out and fit steel parts according to blueprints, shop drawings, and production requirements.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and tape measurements accurately from day one.

  • Use a tape measure to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet specified tolerances.

  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely to support fabrication and welding tasks.

  • Follow established fabrication processes to support production schedules and output targets.

  • Assist with the assembly and fabrication of steel enclosures for diesel generator systems.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures in the manufacturing environment.

  • Participate in and successfully pass a MIG weld pressure test as part of the qualification process.

Essential Skills

  • More than two years of experience in MIG welding.

  • Proven experience with layout and fitting of steel components.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings accurately.

  • Ability to read and use a tape measure confidently and precisely.

  • Basic understanding of hand and power tools commonly used in fabrication and welding.

  • Capability to pass a MIG weld pressure test.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Welding school or formal welding training is a plus.

  • Experience in a production or manufacturing welding environment is beneficial.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality welds.

  • Willingness to learn and grow skills under the guidance of experienced team members.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing facility with over 100 employees. The environment is not climate controlled, so temperatures can vary with the seasons. You will work on the production floor around welding and fabrication equipment, hand tools, and power tools. The role involves hands-on, industrial work in a busy shop setting where safety procedures and appropriate work attire suitable for a welding and fabrication environment are essential.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of BATAVIA, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
