Work involves maintaining the appearance of grounds and repairing buildings, utility systems, and stationary equipment; operating motorized equipment; requisitioning material and supplies; and maintaining records. Reports to the Camp Swift Grounds Maintenance Supervisor. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.WORK HOURS: Monday and#8211; Thursday, 10 h urs a day, 40 hours a weekESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESPerform maintenance and repair work such as plumbing, painting, electrical, steam, air conditioning, and mechanical. Perform carpentry work such as the installation, alteration, repair, and maintenance of buildings, doors, windows, wood fixtures, and furniture. Perform maintenance repair work such as welding, brazing, and soldering on ferrous and non-ferrous metals to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts and equipment. Perform inspections of equipment, operating machinery, systems, and building accessories and appliances to ensure proper maintenance and repair. Oversee and perform groundskeeping work, such as mowing and grass and tree trimming, fertilizing, watering, removing, and planting trees and shrubs. Oversee and/or perform the removal of dirt, rubbish, and refuse from grounds. Oversee and/or perform repair and preventive maintenance (PM) work on parking lots, roads, and sidewalks. Assist in implementing the PM program that pertains to the building and ground maintenance. Service, repair, and conduct preventive maintenance on groundskeeping equipment. Identify mechanical problems and determine how to fix the problems. Repair equipment and fabricates parts for repairs. Calculate material and labor costs and orders parts and supplies. Maintain and repair electrical outlets, control panels, switches, fixtures, and accessories; replace and reseat brushes on motors; and splice wires and cables. Assist in the Planning Resource for Infrastructure Development and Evaluation (PRIDE) work order system to include inputting and closing out work orders. Maintain records of work orders or projects in online database. Maintain CAC and complete relevant and/or assigned training. May train others. Assist in on-call duties for after-hours, weekends, and holidays for facilities emergencies. Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency state employee policies procedures handbook. May be required to perform duty in support of national emergencies, disasters, and other missions, to include holidays and weekends. Qualifications: MINIMIUM QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION:Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent (GED) is required.EXPERIENCE:Three (3) yearsand#8217; experience in building maintenance and repair work is required. Experience using Microsoft Office (such as Outlook, Word, or Excel) is required.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:Experience and certifications in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, electrical or ground maintenance is preferred.REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE:A valid driverand#8217;s license is required. *If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. A satisfactory driving record is required for operating state or personal vehicles to conduct agency business.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Background Investigation. Selected candidate must be able to obtain a CAC and/or pass a federal security background investigation. The process includes a National Agency Check and Inquiry (NACI) and fingerprinting. New employees must complete and sign the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) form SF85. Completed forms are submitted to OPM for background investigations.
