SpaceX Supervisor, Production - Solar Cell Factory (Starlink) - Day Shift in Bastrop, Texas

SUPERVISOR, PRODUCTION – SOLAR CELL FACTORY (STARLINK) – DAY SHIFT
At SpaceX, we are building the next generation of space infrastructure to enable large-scale AI data centers in orbit. These orbital AI platforms require massive amounts of reliable, high-efficiency solar power to support intensive computing workloads in space. To make this possible, we are standing up one of the largest solar cell manufacturing facilities in the world. We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to support the ramp-up and sustained operation of high-volume solar cell production lines. This high-impact role offers the opportunity to lead frontline teams while enabling SpaceX’s ambitious vision for AI data centers in space.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Execute daily shift operations on high-volume solar cell production lines, driving output to meet aggressive ramp-up schedules
Monitor and improve end-to-end performance metrics including yield, throughput, cycle time, and cost-per-watt for space-grade solar cells
Coach and develop production specialists, technicians, and associates in a 24/7 environment, providing hands-on guidance
Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives on the production floor to optimize processes and quality
Collaborate with supporting teams to maximize line uptime and minimize disruptions, escalating issues to Production Manager
Track production KPIs and provide shift reports with data-driven insights for leadership review
Champion safety culture, ergonomic practices, and regulatory compliance on assigned shifts
Foster technical excellence, accountability, and innovation on the production floor to support SpaceX’s vision for AI data centers in space
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree OR High school diploma or equivalency certificate and 5+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing, production, or logistics environment
1+ years of experience in a supervisory or team lead position
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or STEM discipline
7+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing, production, or logistics environment
2+ years of experience leading a team or project
Experience driving yield, throughput, and quality improvements in high-volume manufacturing
Hands-on experience with solar cell processes, thin-film deposition, or handling pyrophoric gases/toxic chemicals
Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or cleanroom/ESD protocols
Proven ability to lead shift teams under tight deadlines
Experience in related fields such as wafer fabrication, silicon packaging, SMT, battery, or chemical manufacturing
Demonstrated data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement in dynamic manufacturing settings
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to travel internationally (20%)
Ability to stand up to 6 hours, lift up to 25 pounds unassisted, and maneuver around equipment in a factory setting
Ability to work in industrial environments with fumes/odors, noise, hazardous chemicals, and confined spaces
Must be available for one of the following AWS shifts (start and end times are approximate):
A-Shift: 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Sunday - Tuesday and every other Wednesday)
B-Shift: 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Thursday - Saturday and every other Wednesday)
